Sometimes we get stuck with forwarding the forwards on social media and having those forwards come back to us as others’ forwarded messages. It’s a cycle, a continuum. Are we flowing forward, though? To flow is to be, belong, and become more of who we are, belong, and keep at it! To flow is to express honestly, listen keenly and celebrate wholeheartedly. Maybe, it’s time to snap out of the constant gush of content and bring back the beauty of heart-to-heart conversations. How about we write letters to our loved ones as part of our Diwali wishes for them? We have put together five structures of letters that we’d love for you to cross-pollinate or use as they are to make your dearest ones smile deeper this Diwali.
1) Happy Diwali to the light of my life
The darker it got, the closer I felt to your light. Your innate, unfailing, unwavering ability to look at the bright side never ceases to amaze me!
As we advance into the festival of lights, I can’t help but feel a fussy gush of gratitude for you. The world is not an easy place to live in. But you know what? You make it worth our while. Thank you for being who you are. Every day is a brighter version of love, warmth, and faith with you.
2) Happy Diwali to my firecracker of laughter and love
There’s nothing as therapeutic as sitting by your side and laughing away the burning sorrows of life. Not every day one could afford to walk down memory lane, amounting to the heavy emotions that doing so draws. But whenever I happen to fall back into the meadows of memories, I consciously as well subconsciously stumble upon the peals of laughter you bestowed upon my smile.
Every year, our friendship lends me a different meaning of purity, bliss, and life, irrespective of our far-fetched or closely held meet-ups.
Love to you,
Always.
3) Happy Diwali to my brightest inspiration
Being with you corresponds to having my faith in humanity, love, folklore, and simplicity get reinstated. I have never felt as inhibited and present within my existence as I go through all our conversations, exchanges, and abandoned laughter. You bring so much joy and inspiration to my life. This year I experienced the most beautiful form of stillness with you. Like those still waters that run deep. Deeper than facades, semblances, and petty. You are a force of nature. I wish you the light of calmness sailing its way to your beautiful soul.
4) Happy Diwali to the one whose homecoming feels like magic
The homecoming of lord Rama inspires the idea of goodness as an honest endeavor toward a happy, peaceful life – that manifests the inherent beauty of empathy, patience, and faith across generations. Your homecoming brings hope to all our hearts. It’s the best time of the year, witnessing our time differences vanish! We love you.
5) Happy Diwali to the colors of my Rangoli
Shubh Diwali to the person making life (lives) beautiful. You are the light that is as devoted to its absence as it is to its presence. You add colors to the greys of our lives. The magnitude of the infinite within you is directly proportionate to the way you let traditions, in their rooted honesty, become all of you. Knowing you is Diwali itself – the kind that gets manifested across numerous forms, joys, acceptance, devotion, empathy, homecoming, faith, divinity, epiphanies, worthwhile conversations, discoveries, madnesses, and simplicity. I am intrinsically happy I know you.
This Diwali, let the forwards be. Write to those you love with all your heart, call them over and celebrate cozily.
